Sword time [Unfinished Project]
A downloadable Sword Time for Windows
Sword Time – A Rough Prototype of a Big Idea
Sword Time is a top-down, pixel art survival game with procedural world generation, early crafting and building mechanics — all currently held together by a temporary command line interface due to missing core gameplay systems.
What’s in the Prototype?
-
Command Line (Temporary) – Due to the lack of a proper UI and missing core systems, most gameplay is currently handled through a built-in command line. This was not the original design, but a workaround to make the prototype playable at this stage. A full manual is included to help you navigate the available commands and syntax
-
Inventory System – Collect, manage, and equip items.
-
Crafting & Building – Build basic structures and expand your presence in the world.
-
Procedural Map – A new world every time you play.
-
No Real Combat System (Yet) – While there are currently two enemy types, combat is extremely limited and mostly placeholder. A real combat system is planned for future development.
-
Marker System – Place custom markers on the map and navigate to them using a compass.
Honest Development Notes
This prototype has been in part-time development for about 2 years by a very small and inexperienced team. The code is full of shortcuts, bugs, and workarounds. If you’re expecting polish, this isn’t it.
We’re fully aware that there are a lot of bugs in the current version. But trying to fix all of them would easily turn into two months of bugfixing, which would inevitably create new bugs, and then more months of fixing those — leading us into an endless cycle. At some point, we had to accept the current state and move on.
We also understand that two years sounds like enough time to deliver more — and maybe it is. But between university, work, and learning game development from scratch, we simply couldn’t build all the systems and content we originally envisioned.
Still, this prototype represents a genuine effort, and we hope it inspires ideas, feedback, or curiosity from fellow developers and players.
Documentation Included
A full manual is bundled with the game. It explains how to use the command line, what commands exist, and how to get started.

What's the vision of the game? Where do you plan to take it? WOuld be interesting to hear.
Watched your video... Pretty cool idea, but as you said it combines too very different elements: fast roguelike PvE and slow chilling base building.
There is a base building roguelike on itch.io though. You spawn in underground and have to defend your base. With time you expand and upgrade it. It's not free though, so haven't tried it.
nice proto, waiting for full ver
